What Is The TEAS Test? How Should I Study For Nursing School?

Many prospective nursing students will first have to take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) exam in addition to certain prerequisite courses prior to nursing school admission consideration.

Here is some information about the TEAS test:

How many questions are on the TEAS test?

The ATI TEAS test is comprised of 170 questions set up in a multiple-choice format with four-option answers. Questions are designed to test the basic academic skills you will need to perform in class in the areas of Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage.

This information can and will, in part, come from your K-12 education. You may see questions on long division, identification of animals and dinosaurs, algebra, differentiation of adverbs and adjectives, reading comprehension, etc.

A credit card photo or student ID does not meet these criteria.

How should I study for the TEAS test?

You can check out the most popular study guide on Amazon for the TEAS test below. This study guide comes with 3 Complete Practice Tests and 73 Step-By-Step Tutorial Videos.

Lots of people prefer this guide to the official ATI study guide, and some have even mentioned that the official ATI guide has incorrect question/answer information… for example, it incorrectly states in a test question that the left ventricle pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs. This is probably a typo and should have said right ventricle, because the left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood through the aorta to the body.

Both study guides are almost the same price, but the one from Mometrix has better reviews… and over 4,300 of them at that… compared to only about 280 from ATI.
