Agacnp or fnp?

#1

Hello all!
Quick question for acute care np and fnp - Do either of these specialities have the ability to follow patients both inpatient and outpatient? Do any of you currently practice with this kind of schedule? Thinking that is the kind of work I would like to do, if possible.

Thanks!

I have two semesters left in my AGACNP program, and I chose that specialty because I wanted to do inpatient, and it is the recommended program for that (unless you want pediatrics or OBG/GYN populations).

If you wanted to do both inpatient and outpatient, I think FNP would be a better choice because you would actually be trained in outpatient medicine, and you will not get that with the AGACNP program.

If you haven’t already, check out this post for some more info on the different NPs:
